This writing was born from three traumatic circumstances (see a Labor of Conviction). My Personal Achievement Plan became my motivation tool kit that got me through! At the time, it wasn’t formalized. I was a marketing executive and I subconsciously applied my craft to my life.  In my journal, there are diagrams and spokes and wheels.  Sometimes getting through just came down to talking to someone. When I talked, the approach was sometimes emotional, sometimes systematic.  I took a good, hard, honest look in the mirror and I was motivated.  I knew that NOW was the time to change and to take charge.

This plan is the “power up NOW” motivation tool kit for self-empowerment. When you face your NOW moment, pause for a brief moment and evaluate and then take whatever is fueling that personal motivation and create the change you want. My Personal Achievement Plan is a personal marketing plan for a company called YOU! Your shifts can be large or small.  These personal marketing strategies apply to your “LIFE,” your “JOB,” or your “GOAL.”

Touching the I

In order to truly achieve, and for some of us to heal, we have to go inside ourselves because here, our definition of achievement is extraordinary self satisfaction. Think about it. Who are YOU? For most of us, you is defined externally. Usually someone is telling you that, “You are…..” And, we soak it in. You are told “you are;” therefore we believe “you are” and therefore, “you are”. You behave, dress and live in ways that reflect that “you are” external image.

The “Me” is also external. It is our protective layer. We live through the Me and often we reflect the Me. The Me enacts the actions necessary for our eminent survival. Through the Me we cope, adapt, and exist. We live our daily lives. We often confuse the Me with your I. They are different.

The I is deep within us. It is where our passion lies, it is where we believe. There is a softer side to this exploration called, My Personal Achievement Plan but it can be elusive. It is touching your true I. We have to acknowledge, accept, adapt and evolve through the very real conditions of the Me to recognize and feel your I. You do not have to go through some wrenching crisis to feel your true I. This is an important element of this work. Dealing with your Me and striving to touch your I are not mutually exclusive exercises. You can experience and live both simultaneously. You can train yourself to touch your I in every situation, define your I am and live your beliefs as you deal with your realities of today’s me.

How Can I Change Me by Marketing ME?

In marketing, we talk about the “payoff,” “the hook,” the “why?” of buying.  My Personal Achievement Plan has two main “Marketing Me” themes to consider: the first theme is “Empowered Permission.”  The second theme is “Shift to an Achievement Mind-Set.”

Who Should Use This Plan?

The exercises presented in this workbook are primarily designed for people who desire improvement, discovery, and achievement. This plan fertilizes your desire to move forward through the use of a personalized approach to traditional marketing that is systematic and affirming.  Using this guide helps you do the following:

My Personal Achievement Plan works best if you are motivated and have a desire to live better. The nature of the change can vary.  It can be big, or it can be small and incremental.  Changing job level to a desired promotion, getting a divorce, making more time for your passion, planning financial outcomes or family transitions, and moving from wage earner to entrepreneur are examples of change.  Change is inevitable. This marketing approach presents steps to provide systematic empowerment. Give yourself permission to move forward, upward, or outward.  The direction you go in is yours to decide.  What are the colors, textures, and hues of your happy, prosperous life?  Nothing is harder than trying to change when life is spinning out of sync with your basic needs or your true passion.  Get off the wheel or at least control the rate of spin.  There are steps.

  1. Stop! Focus on an achievement mind-set.
  2. Assess the current situation.
  3. Define the current situation in terms you can understand.
  4. Prioritize activities, resources, desired outcomes, and time.
  5. Optimize your talent.
  6. Optimize experts.
  7. Create a learning environment.
  8. Clarify, clarify, and clarify some more.  Know what you are going after.
  9. Move your mind and move your body.
  10. DO!

Through My Personal Achievement Plan, you can design your own personal marketing plan. Design, strategize, develop, and plan. Move forward and DO!
